Digital fitness for the well-being of patients

Initial situation

Over 25 medical practices already belong to the Praxis Group. As a network of GPs and specialists, the Praxis Group is committed to ensuring that rural regions continue to receive GP care in the future. The emphasis is on "GP care" and not on the establishment of new group practices. The Praxis Group will continue to run the existing GP practices in the long term. It is of the highest priority that GPs provide their services as flawlessly and economically as possible thanks to the use of modern resources. IT plays an important role in this.

Solution

With Sharp DX, the Praxis Group is implementing a new IT strategy. First, the data and core applications were migrated to an infrastructure that guarantees the highest levels of security and availability. At the same time, a large physical archive was digitized; its contents will be made available in the future via a “document management” solution. All data is now hosted on the ORIA platform in Swiss high-security data centers and is continuously mirrored and backed up. The Praxis Group shares a system with other organizations based on the cloud model but uses private, secure areas. Praxis Group employees always access applications and data in the data center via encrypted connections.

Citrix technology ensures that only image content is transmitted to any end device (PC, laptop, tablet, smartphone), making it feel to users—no matter where they are—as if the data were stored locally. Following the ORIA principle, a team of specialists from Sharp DX ensures the systems operate smoothly and provides support for all IT-related issues.

Advantages & future

The Praxis Group can thus concentrate on its core business and benefit from high IT quality at a moderate price. The system will be expanded as required. From now on, the medical practices will gradually be provided with IT services that support the daily work with patients and relieve the treating doctor and staff of administrative tasks.
