Power i Round Table 2025

PiRT 2025 took place in the inspiring surroundings of Enter Technikwelt Solothurn. The technology museum, with its impressive collection from the history of computer and communication technology, provided the ideal setting for an afternoon of expertise, exchange, and networking around the IBM Power Platform.

After the welcome, the event kicked off with three exciting presentations on current developments in the IBM Power and Storage environment.

First-hand technical highlights

IBM Power11 – The big announcement for 2025
Jürg Jelinek from IBM provided an outlook on the next generation of the IBM Power platform. The focus was on the expected technological innovations of Power11 and their significance for companies in terms of performance, scalability, and future workloads.

IBM i Security and Hardening
Roland Friederich from ITpoint gave a practical demonstration of the measures companies can take to specifically harden their IBM i systems and minimize security risks. The presentation highlighted typical vulnerabilities and provided concrete best practices for a secure system environment.

IBM FlashSystem with a focus on FlashCore Modules Gen.4 – A Breakthrough in Cyber Security
Daniel Gysin from IBM presented the latest developments relating to the IBM FlashSystem and the fourth-generation FlashCore Modules. In particular, he highlighted how modern storage technologies can help improve cyber resilience.

Location Highlight: ENTER World of Technology

After the technical part, participants had the opportunity to discover the world of technology on a guided tour. The exhibition offers an impressive journey through the history of computer science, consumer electronics, and communication technology, from historical calculating machines to modern computer systems.

Exchange, Networking & Enjoyment

The reception that followed provided the ideal opportunity to discuss the topics presented in more detail, exchange experiences, and make new contacts within the IBM Power community.

Conclusion

PiRT #13 clearly demonstrated just how dynamically the IBM Power ecosystem continues to evolve. From IBM Power11 to security and modern storage technologies, one thing became clear: innovation, performance, and security are more central than ever. At the same time, face-to-face interaction remains a key factor in driving new ideas, fostering strong partnerships, and building a forward-looking community.
