PiRT 2022 took place at Galliker Transport AG in Altishofen. Participants were treated to an exciting mix of hands-on experience, innovation, and exclusive insights into one of Switzerland’s leading logistics companies.
Practical Experience Meets Innovation
The event focused on real-life experiences from day-to-day operations—exactly what PiRT stands for. Galliker provided a direct look into its IT and logistics processes, as well as the challenges of modern car logistics. Particularly fascinating was the evolution of the IT landscape over more than 30 years, from the first AS/400 systems to today’s highly available, complex environments.
Highlight: IBM Power10
A key topic was the new IBM Power10 generation, which had been launched shortly before. Together with IBM experts, the new capabilities were discussed, ranging from performance and scalability to AI integration and increased efficiency. This was complemented by insights into IBM i 7.5 and the new Navigator for i, which introduces important enhancements for operations and administration
Exclusive insights at Galliker
A particular highlight was the tour of the Galliker Car Logistics Center, during which participants were able to experience modern logistics processes firsthand, from vehicle handling to highly automated operations. The combination of IT and physical logistics impressively demonstrated just how closely technology and business are intertwined today.

During the reception that followed, participants had the opportunity to engage in more in-depth professional discussions. In a relaxed atmosphere, new connections were made and valuable discussions took place within the IBM i community.
