On September 2, 2026, we had the pleasure of welcoming numerous guests to our breakfast event at the Bellevue Palace in Bern, in collaboration with Open Systems AG. The morning’s focus was on the question: Who controls your data? This is a topic that is more relevant than ever, given the increasing cyber threats, growing regulatory requirements, and the ongoing digital transformation.

Exciting conversations and valuable connections between decision-makers, IT leaders, and industry experts from the Bern region began right from breakfast. The personal interactions and open atmosphere made the event an inspiring morning.

Engaging expert presentations and practical insights

‍

Simon Getzmann, Agency Manager at Generali Switzerland and a former professional handball player for BSV Bern, kicked off the event. In his presentation, he vividly illustrated the parallels between elite sports and business leadership. The focus was on character, responsibility, and mental strength—especially in situations where leadership is truly needed.

Dennis Monner, CEO of Open Systems AG, then explained why Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a key foundation for digital sovereignty today. Using real-world examples, he demonstrated how companies can protect their data with modern security architectures while also meeting the demands of hybrid work models.

In closing, Jérome Kirschenhofer, Public Cloud Security Specialist at ORIA by Sharp DX Switzerland, spoke about the importance of sovereign infrastructure for protecting sensitive corporate data. He explained why data sovereignty can only be guaranteed if companies retain control over the underlying infrastructure.

Exchange, networking, and new perspectives

In addition to the expert presentations, the event focused primarily on personal interaction. In a pleasant atmosphere, participants shared experiences, discussed current challenges, and made new connections. The networking opportunities allowed participants to delve deeper into the topics presented and exchange ideas with experts as well as other professionals and executives.
